French Annual Meeting of Landscape Ecology

The "Landscape Ecology Meetings" are the privileged gathering for scientists who wish to exchange ideas on advances and prospects in Landscape Ecology research. Landscapes are often considered as the focal point where social, economic, and ecological factors can be analyzed and managed together in a sustainable manner. A specificity of this symposium is to bring together researchers from different disciplines (Ecology, Geography, Humanities and Social Sciences...) as well as territorial planners around this concept. It aims to structure the community on significant advances in the discipline and strengthen its visibility in national and international research networks. Since their inception, the REP has fostered numerous collaborative and interdisciplinary projects.

The uniqueness of REP24 will be the celebration of the establishment of the French chapter of the International Association for Landscape Ecology (IALE-FR). Indeed, on November 27, 2023, the French landscape ecology community organized itself with the creation of the IALE-FR association, a branch of the European Association for Landscape Ecology (IALE-Europe: iale-europe.eu/pattern-and-process-people-and-action), which itself is a chapter of the global IALE founded in 1982 and with headquarter in Wageningen. IALE-FR is also integrated within the largest French scientific ecology association, the French Ecological Society (SFE²: sfecologie.org/). In this regard, we are organizing our first annual meeting in Strasbourg from June 26 to 28 2024. We like to warmly invite the European community to join us during these 3 days.

The 2024 annual meeting will take place in Strasbourg from June 26 to 28, 2024. It aims to foster exchanges through scientific communications with plenary sessions, discussion sessions, topic workshops, speed-speech sessions, poster sessions, and an exhibition delivered by the Art School of the Rhine (Haute Ecole des Arts du Rhin - HEAR).

In line with global challenges, the first annual meeting IALE-FR merge with REP24 and will focus on the following themes (anticipated sessions):

  1. Landscape ecology and climate change: issues and observations
  2. Nature-based solutions, their integration into landscapes, and their ecological impact
  3. Aquatic landscape ecology: the (socio)hydro systems
  4. Green infrastructures: roles, functions, and challenges
  5. Urban landscape ecology
  6. Socio-ecology of the landscape
  7. Landscape architects' ecology: aesthetics and value of landscapes
  8. Landscapes, common to humans and non-humans (conceptual session)

Tools for landscape characterization and analysis will have more deeply discussed during the topic workshops.

The call for papers, posters, and workshops is open and will close on March 15, 2024.

A prize will be awarded for the best doctoral student communication at the conference!
